Where had you gone?

Standard

Where had you gone, that day

the clouds wept silver
over ochre colored streets?
Sweet sickness that you brought,
now glaringly absent.
No new melodies, no new aches.
Where had you gone?
I wondered over coffee,
gazing into draperies of fog,
as the ticking of my watch
ground down the world
into a fine powder. You were nowhere,
just like me, just like anyone else.
Nowhere, just like me.
